NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has articulated a pivotal shift, highlighting how artificial intelligence is redefining what it means to be "smart" in the modern world. For generations, educational systems have molded individuals to operate like precise calculators, emphasizing rote computation and technical prowess. However, as Huang observes, this paradigm is crumbling under the weight of AI's capabilities.

Huang candidly addresses the obsolescence of traditional skills, stating, “The definition of smart is somebody who’s intelligent, solve problems, technical. But I find that that’s a commodity. And their value is incredible. To be able to preempt problems before they show up, just because you feel the vibe.” This "vibe," far from mystical, emerges from a unique blend of elements that AI cannot replicate - first principles, human empathy, and accumulated life experiences. As Huang explains, “That vibe came from a combination of data, analysis, first principle, life experience, wisdom, sensing other people.”

Huang envisions a future where intelligence is defined holistically: “I think long term the definition of smart is someone who sits at that intersection of being technically astute, but human empathy and having the ability to infer the unspoken, around the corners, the unknowables.” Unspoken variables, such as market psychology or intuitive innovation, become the new levers of success ... elements that evade spreadsheets and prompts, derived instead from observing what metrics overlook.
